“This follows the entry into service earlier this year of another Q400 aircraft, the VH-8QD. With this aircraft, NJE’s FIFO (Fly In Fly Out) fleet will increase to 21, consisting of 13 Q400s and 8 Embraer E190 aircraft,” the airline said.
“This new aircraft will help partially meet the increasing demand for NJE’s services in WA, SA and QLD. NJE plans to have 2 more E190 jets in service in July and August to continue meeting the needs of its resource customers.”
According to Robin Furber, CEO of National Jet Express, the airline has seen strong growth in the charter and FIFO markets.
“Reaching 21 passenger aircraft reflects the strength of demand across the resources sector and the trust our customers place in NJE,” he said.
“Operating and maintaining our own Q400 and E190 fleet internally gives us the control and ability to continue growing alongside our customers in the future.”
NJE added its two previous aircraft, both Q400s, to the fleet in late 2025 to “support the continued growth of NJE’s presence in the Mining, Resources and Construction industries, as well as providing additional coverage during periods of scheduled aircraft maintenance.”
The airline began Embraer E190 services to the Nifty copper mine in the Pilbara earlier this year for Cyprium Metals, following the launch of its route to Marble Bar for AIM late last year.
