Competence: USL Championship
Market: Goal to score in both halves.
Odd: 4/5@ BetUS
Starting with the hosts, who immediately returned to winning ways last time out with a 2-1 victory at FC Tulsa, Colorado has enjoyed an eye-catching run in recent weeks. Finding a route into the play-off places, the Springs have won three of their four previous appearances in all competitions and will look to make a real statement here. Extending their stellar adventure in the USL Cup earlier this month and winning their first three meetings by an aggregate score of 7-1, Alan McCann’s side have their sights set on clinching another play-off berth this season. However, facing what could be another stern midweek test, Colorado is looking for some welcome defensive value. Including a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Las Vegas Lights on May 24, Wednesday’s hosts have managed just one clean sheet in any of their last five outings on all fronts. It is also worth noting that McCann’s men have only managed one clean sheet against their own fans since mid-April.
As for the visitors, seeing their long streak come to an abrupt end last time out when they finally fell to a disappointing 2-0 loss against Lexington, San Antonio will look for an immediate response here. However, still in bronze medal position in the Western Conference, Carlos Llamosa’s team is within striking distance of climbing to the top of the standings. Enjoying their own stellar performance in the USL Cup and starting June with a 2-1 win against FC Tulsa, the Texas-based team has suffered just one defeat in any of their previous 10 consecutive appearances in all competitions, a streak that dates back to early April. However, after dismissing May with a pulsating 4-4 draw against Sporting Jax, San Antonio is desperately searching for its own defensive stability. With just one clean sheet in the USL since April 12, the neutrals could enjoy another enjoyable battle in the Western Conference in the early hours of Wednesday. Likewise, the midweek guests have seen their last three matchups away from Toyota Field produce 13 goals on both ends of the field.
