Pete Hegseth implied that European and Asian countries are not grateful enough for the Iran war, which he called “a gift to the world” from Donald Trump.
“It’s a bold and dangerous mission … courtesy of a historic and bold president,” Hegseth said.
Regarding allies in Europe and Asia, he continued: “Europe and Asia have benefited from our protection for decades, but the era of free riding is over.
“America and the free world deserve allies who are capable, who are loyal, and who understand that being an ally is not a one-way street. It is a two-way street.
“We don’t have Europe, but they need the Strait of Hormuz much more than we do, and maybe they want to start talking less and holding less sophisticated conferences in Europe and getting on a ship.”
