The other night, we were watching Curb Your Enthusiasm, one of the great comfort shows, and, in the episode, Larry’s local deli named a sandwich after him. Here’s the big moment:
Jeff: “I went to Leo’s Delicatessen. Do you know what’s on the board? A new sandwich called ‘Larry David.'”
Larry: “What? Get out of here.”
Jeff: “I swear to God. I swear to God.”
Larry: “Leo named a sandwich after me? You’re kidding!”
Jeff: “Yes, yes, yes.”
Larry: “I can’t believe it. I’m on the board of directors?”
Jeff: “You’re on the board.”
The only drawback? Larry hates his sandwich. the ingredients they’re white fish, sable, cream cheese, capers and onions, and he’s “more of a pastrami, corned beef guy…not really a big fisherman.”
So! My question today is: if you had a sandwich named after you and it was good, what would you put on it? Mine would be a grilled cheese with Dijon mustard; or perhaps a classic bodega egg and cheese. During a hot summer of quick lunches, I’d love to hear yours. xo
Here are a few more, if you want inspiration:
