The neckline of Athiya Shetty’s Rohit Bal anarkali features the house’s signature thread and pearl embroidery.

Athiya Shetty has made a statement in the wedding guest wardrobe with her sartorial choices for her close friend and actor Akanksha Rajan’s wedding festivities. While she sported many looks during the multi-day event, the one that has earned a permanent place in our collective memory is Rohit Bal’s ivory anarkali look designed by the couture house’s current creative director, Fraze Tasnim.

The sleeveless organza silk anakali was based on a look from the brand’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection, Kaaynaat, designer Rohit Bal’s latest collection. The anarkali features a fitted bodice with a Queen Anne neckline and a slit back, finished with floral motifs embroidered with delicate thread. The silhouette flowed into paneled kalis, each embroidered with abstract floral needlework that rose elegantly from the hem. Shetty paired the anarkali with a matching churidar and layered it with a sheer dupatta embroidered with Rohit Bal’s signature nature-inspired motifs, including flowers, horses, cranes and foliage.

The star element of the set was the necklace encrusted with precious stones. The navratna necklace featured nine precious and semi-precious stones sourced from Chandigarh-based jeweler Anmol Jain. Shetty elevated the look further with diamond earrings from Mumbai-based jewelery house Irasva Fine Jewelery and thread and sequin embroidered juttis from Delhi-based footwear brand Needle Dust. A tonal organza potli bag with floral hand embroidery accented with pearls and finished off with a kiss clasp by Mumbai-based designer Meera Mahadevia completed the monochrome ensemble. The beauty look was kept minimalist, mirroring the ensemble with dewy skin with defined lashes, rosy cheeks and nude lips, courtesy of Simran Gidwani. Hairstylist Kunj Sharma styled Shetty’s hair in a sleek fishtail braid.
