What’s new at Louis Vuitton? Silk Tech and the new Drop 300 shoe

There are luxury sneakers, and then there are sneakers that attempt to redefine what luxury performance looks and feels like. Louis Vuitton’s latest combination of the LV Drop 300 sneaker and new Silk Tech material does just that, marking one of the House’s most technically ambitious menswear launches to date.

First presented on the Fall/Winter 2026 men’s runway, the LV Drop 300 takes its name from its remarkably lightweight 300-gram construction. Inspired by the streamlined silhouettes of 1990s running shoes, the sneaker combines calfskin suede with Louis Vuitton’s newly developed Silk Tech fabric: a proprietary blend of 51% silk and 49% recycled nylon. The result is a water-repellent, wrinkle-resistant and remarkably lightweight material, while maintaining the tactile refinement expected from the French Maison. Rippled rubber soles reflect the movement of water droplets, while Monogram Flower details ground the futuristic design in Louis Vuitton heritage.

The new Silk Tech goes beyond footwear to icons like Speedy and Alma, where familiar leather-inspired Monogram motifs are reinterpreted through an ultra-lightweight fabric. Together, the accessories and sneakers demonstrate Pharrell Williams’ continued interest in combining innovation with craftsmanship. Rather than treating technical performance as separate from luxury, Louis Vuitton proposes that the future of luxury lies precisely at their intersection.

The Drop 300 and the debut of Silk Tech manufacturing are less of a standalone product launch and more of a soft launch of Louis Vuitton’s narrative for the season. In our runway review, we explore how Pharrell Williams positions new materials technology as a new language and meaning of contemporary luxury.
