YouTube Picture-in-Picture Mode for Android and iOS Now Available making his way to all users around the worldincluding those who do not pay for a Premium subscription. The YouTube team says the feature will appear in more and more user accounts in the coming months, so it could take some time to reach most people’s accounts. But once it reaches them, they will be able to reduce the size of the YouTube video they are playing and continue watching it even after exiting the application. To activate the feature, they simply have to swipe up or press the home button to close YouTube. The video will continue playing in a mini player that you can move on the screen.
The feature was first available on Android and iOS for Premium subscribers in the US in 2018 and 2021, respectively, before everyone in the country had access to it. On the feature’s support page, the YouTube team says there will be no changes to the experience for people in the US. Everyone else will have picture-in-picture access for non-music long-form content on Android and iOS. Premium subscribers in particular get an additional benefit: the ability to use picture-in-picture for both music and non-music content.
