  • laboratory and Epic have announced an expanded collaboration to make Labcorp’s full menu of diagnostic tests available through Epic’s Aura platform.
  • The integration allows clinicians to order tests and receive discrete results directly within their existing Epic workflows, eliminating the need for manual solutions.
  • The initiative addresses a major industry problem by reducing the time, cost and IT complexity traditionally required for lab-EHR interfaces.
  • The expansion builds on the successful implementation of Invitae genetic testing through Aura, which now offers hospitals access to Labcorp’s evolving specialty and advanced diagnostics.
  • Labcorp, which performed more than 750 million tests worldwide in 2025, aims to use this partnership to accelerate patient access to accurate diagnostic answers.

Historically, health systems have struggled with the “integration bottleneck”: the lengthy and expensive IT projects required to connect electronic health records with partner laboratories. Labcorp and Epic are addressing this structural friction by leveraging AuraEpic’s unified platform for laboratory data sharing. This collaboration ensures Labcorp’s entire menu of comprehensive and innovative laboratory services is available as a standard, “light” integration to any hospital using Epic nationwide.

The change moves laboratory data from a disconnected silo to a central component of the medical intelligence layer. Bryan Vaughn, executive vice president of Labcorp, said streamlining these integrations is a critical step in meeting the changing needs of modern healthcare systems.

Operational efficiency and clinical precision

The expanded partnership provides several mechanical benefits for clinical and administrative teams:

  • Simplified onboarding: Aura’s content management capabilities reduce the ongoing maintenance and effort required to keep test menus up to date.
  • Workflow Integration: Clinicians can select the right test the first time without leaving their primary clinical environment, allowing for faster diagnostic turnaround times.
  • Immediate Access to Innovation: As Labcorp introduces new genetic and specialty tests, they become instantly available to providers through the existing Aura connection.

Sumit Rana, president of Epic, highlighted that the goal is to ensure that patients get “accurate answers faster” by putting the right diagnostic tools directly in the hands of the doctor at the point of care.

Expansion of diagnostic infrastructure

Labcorp’s role in the healthcare ecosystem is important, serving customers in approximately 100 countries and supporting more than 85% of new medications approved by the FDA in 2025. By deepening its integration with the nation’s leading EHR, Labcorp ensures its unparalleled diagnostic expertise is more accessible to the nearly 71,000 employees and millions of patients served by Epic’s integrated health systems.

This collaboration follows a broader industry trend toward administrative de-escalation, where technology providers focus on eliminating “wasted minutes” spent on manual data entry and IT maintenance.
