Vincent Kompany believes Harry Kane “is aging like a fine wine” as Bayern Munich look to finish the 2025-26 season with a treble.
Bayern have already won the Bundesliga title, as they face Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday.
Kane’s 12 goals this season in UEFA’s top competition are already the most by an English player in a European Cup/Champions League campaign.
He has scored in each of his last four round of 16 games in the competition and could equal the longest streak by a Bayern player in the Champions League (five by Robert Lewandowski between 2016 and 2018).
And after his performance in the quarterfinals, Kane has scored (three) or assisted (three) in each of his last five Champions League games against Real Madrid; This is the longest streak by a player against the Spanish team in the history of the competition.
In total, Kane has scored 53 goals in 45 games in all competitions this season, more than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues.
Kompany believes Kane’s recognition has improved since he joined Bayern from Tottenham in 2023.
“He was an incredible goalscorer, a striker who could find a way to score goals from any position, whether it was with his head, his left foot, his right foot or from distance,” Kompany said of how his perception of Kane has changed since the striker left England.

“I think his definition was never underestimated, and I think his leadership was never underestimated either because he has had that role for his team and for his country.
“Obviously what we see more of is his distribution and his work rate for the team, and his overall game intelligence.
“To combine that side of his game with the numbers he has, you have to do the work to help the team progress and then get to the box, so it’s not an easy thing.
“That’s something we’ve seen and been able to enjoy, and maybe it was underrated at the time in England, but he’s aging like a fine wine, so I’m enjoying seeing that side of his game for us as well.”
