Jupiter is the big dog of the sky that everyone loves, and from June 19 to August 19 he sits in his most powerful section of the zodiac: Pushya, the nakshatra that runs from Cancer 3 degrees 20 to Cancer 16 degrees 40. This is the same band that contains the exact degree of exaltation of Jupiter at 5 degrees Cancer. For sixty days, the great master of the gods remains stationed in his throne room, and Vedic tradition has long called Pushya the most auspicious nakshatra of the wheel.
Jupiter within the Nakshatra of Saturn
Pushya is ruled by Saturn. The combination is unusual and important. Jupiter expands. Structures of Saturn. Jupiter says yes to everything. Saturn asks you if you have the discipline to finish it. When Jupiter sits within the nakshatra of Saturn, the wisdom that emerges is not the relaxed, optimistic, anything-goes tone of an unbridled guru. It is the disciplined wisdom of a teacher who has worked long enough to know what really works. This is the kind of grace that builds institutions, writes the long-term plan, and delivers on its promises.
The symbol of Pushya is the udder of the cow, the lotus and the arrow. Each one points to a different layer. The udder is food, the slow wisdom that sustains a family through generations. The lotus is the development of consciousness from the murky waters of emotion toward clear spiritual vision. The arrow is the focused direction that Saturn lends to Jupiter’s expansive impulses. The presiding deity is Brihaspati himself, the high priest of the gods, meaning that Jupiter is essentially channeling the deity he already represents. Few transits are so concentrated.
The marriage of wisdom and emotion
Jupiter in Cancer is the marriage of wisdom and emotion. Cancer is the sign of the Moon, the most bullish of the signs, and it is where true education and knowledge begin to touch the heart. As I have taught for many years, morality and wisdom are boring and useless without genuine emotional content. Jupiter here brings strong intuition, a beneficial family life, and produces great coaches, teachers, counselors, and humanitarians who can connect with what other people really feel rather than what they intellectually want.
This is also a powerful window for the sciences, for healing work, for any path that requires both the open heart of Cancer and the careful discipline of Saturn. Doctors, nurses, healers, teachers, public servants, food producers, dairy workers, and anything related to the literal feeding of others are favored.
financial astrology
For markets, Pushya carries a bullish bias documented in historical soybean and crude oil data. Cancer itself is the most bullish sign in financial astrology. Combined, the two months that Jupiter is in this band are a constructive backdrop for the bullish outlook in commodities, in stocks linked to consumer staples and food production, and in all things related to housing and household-related spending. Read this through your own cyclical work and not as a one-time sign.
Who feels this more?
Cancer on the rise The natives have Jupiter ascendant in their exaltation sign in their most auspicious nakshatra. This is essentially the best possible Jupiter transit for you. Use it. Start the project. Make the introduction. Schedule surgery. Plant the seed of the next chapter.
Sagittarius and Pisces rising have Jupiter as ruler of the chart, so this transit reaches everywhere. Both signs benefit from a clearer mind, better judgment, and easier flow with people who can help.
leo rising has Jupiter in the 12th house of moksha and inner work. The extension is interior. Spiritual study, retreat, and quiet contemplation are particularly fruitful.
Scorpio rising has Jupiter in the ninth house of dharma and the guru. The teacher you’ve been needing can come into the room. Be attentive.
ascending aquarius has Jupiter in the 6th house of service and health. Good window of health, good time to clean up your diet, good time to commit to the discipline you have been avoiding.
The liver and the body
The other dimension worth mentioning is the liver. Jupiter governs the liver, which has more than seven hundred and fifty major functions in the body. With strong, direct Jupiter in Cancer, this is a very good two-month window to cleanse the liver, drink warm water with freshly squeezed lemon every morning, and cut back on heavy cheeses, fried foods, and refined sugar. Spinal twisting and cow pose support the liver, but get proper instruction from a qualified yoga teacher and don’t force it.
Use this window
Pushya runs from June 19 to August 19. Jupiter then crosses into Ashlesha (Cancer 16 degrees 40 to 29 degrees 59), which is a much more complex constellation ruled by Mercury and carrying the intensity of the serpent. Make good use of these sixty days. Jupiter’s window of clean grace closes on August 19.
