One critic says: “Law may, on the surface, with doe eyes and full lips, be too handsome to play Putin. But he has always channeled the kind of inner fury and volatile petulance that makes his characterization of Putin exquisite.”
Neither he nor director Olivier Assayas have expressed any fear of personal repercussions from Moscow: “we were not seeking controversy for controversy’s sake.” The film is an eye-opener on modern political life with Putin’s internet army chasing masses of disinformation in the culture wars and infiltrating the digital sphere with hysteria, rage and chaos to destabilize Western democracies from within.
