Before playing the remarkable and unforgettable character of Kuku in Sacred Games, Kubbra Sait was just another ordinary girl looking for an opportunity to fulfill her dreams of becoming an actress as a newcomer to Mumbai. Recently, remembering her early days in the Bollywood industry, Kubbra Sait recalled how she landed the role of a maid in Salman Khan’s 2011 film Ready. The actress further shared that although many people questioned her during that time about accepting such a small role, she said that she believed the film ultimately helped open doors of bigger opportunities for her.
On Monday, Kubbra Sait took to her social media and recalled her audition days and talked about landing her first role in the Bollywood film Ready, directed by Anees Bazmee and headlined by Salman Khan. She revealed that she was initially cast in the role of a maid and didn’t even have any dialogue in the film. However, things changed after Salman suggested a quirky addition to his character. The idea was for her to be a maid who spoke bad English. The filmmaker immediately liked the idea and eventually his character became quite memorable to the audience.
Sharing the clip, Kubbra said, “This audition is the audition where I wore a short black dress and waited for Anees Bazmee to come into the office and give me a thumbs up. This was an audition where I was now going to play a maid in the movie Ready, and I am so excited about this. The crazy self-confidence that I always had while doing this movie was because this movie was a new experience for me. Like I have never done a movie.”
He added, “Also, I didn’t actually have any lines in the film, but then Salman Khan said to me, ‘Why don’t you do her as the maid who speaks in broken language, like broken English?’”
“Everyone told me I was crazy, that I was crazy and that I couldn’t wait to play Sunaina Kapoor in Ready. But if I hadn’t done Ready, if I wasn’t crazy enough to do Ready, I would never have been Kuku. Never say never. And there are no small roles. There are only small actors. You learn for the rest of your life.” concluded the actress.
