Florida-based aircraft lessor Azorra has delivered the first of two ATR 42-600 aircraft leased to Dallas-based public charter airline JSX to expand regional operations at underserved airports in the United States.
The introduction of the regional turboprop is directly aimed at managing operating costs through fuel efficiency as JSX looks to scale its network. The aircraft provides the airline with the performance capabilities needed to access thousands of smaller domestic airports that cannot support or receive traditional scheduled service from major network airlines.
This initial delivery marks a new North American customer relationship for Azorra, expanding its leased asset footprint in the regional aviation sector. The acquisition comes as regional operators face continued fleet utilization pressures and volatile fuel spreads, forcing closer alignment between capacity management and asset efficiency.
“Balancing product and fuel efficiency is more important now than ever and we appreciate Azorra’s partnership as JSX looks to shape the next generation of regional air travel,” says Jeff Simmons, JSX Chief Financial Officer.
The addition of the ATR 42-600 platform allows the public charter airline to avoid congested major airport hubs, optimizing its utilization rates and mitigating the risk of hub and spoke delays. Delivery of the second ATR 42-600 aircraft on the lease is planned for a later date to support the ongoing regional network expansion.
“We are happy to announce that Azorra has delivered the first of two ATR 42-600s on lease to JSX,” says Michael Davis, Azorra Marketing Director. “Building on the momentum of its 10th anniversary, JSX continues to innovate by connecting underserved airports across the United States and enabling travelers to avoid congested airport hubs.”
