Glasgow-based regional airline Loganair has named an aircraft in honor of former chairman and president Scott Grier OBE.
Grier spent 36 years with the airline, growing it from five aircraft and 44 employees to become the UK’s largest regional airline, joining in 1976 as finance manager.
Luke Farajallah, CEO of Loganair, paid tribute to Grier at the ceremony at Glasgow Airport, saying: “This ATR-72 will operate across our network for years to come – a fitting tribute for someone who championed connectivity across the country.”
Scott Grier OBE said: “It is a great privilege to have this aircraft named after me, a humbling experience. I still feel the thrill of coming to the airport as I did almost 50 years ago when my career began.
“The potential for aviation in Scotland is huge and I am a passionate supporter of the sector and young people considering a career in aviation.”
