Al-Nassr produced a crushing performance in the second half to beat Damac 4-1, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring two goals to finally win the Saudi Professional League title.
After a relatively quiet first half, Al-Nassr pulled away after the break thanks to goals from Kingsley Coman and Ronaldo, despite Damac briefly threatening a comeback.
The hosts dominated much of the match and finally broke the deadlock in the 34th minute. Joao Félix sent in an attractive cross after a corner and Sadio Mane rose highest to head into the net to make it 1-0.
Al Nassr had already created several chances before the first match. Ronaldo headed in from close range, Mané was denied by goalkeeper Kewin, while Félix and Coman tested Damac’s defense during a lively first half.
The locals pull away in the second half
The hosts carried that momentum into the second half and doubled their lead seven minutes after the restart. Abdullah Al Khaibari fed Kingsley Coman outside the box and the French winger drilled a low left-footed shot into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.
Damac returned to the match shortly after, when VAR awarded a penalty for a handball by Mohamed Simakan inside the area.
Morlaye Sylla converted a penalty in the 58th minute, sending the goalkeeper in the wrong direction to reduce the deficit to 2-1.
The Ronaldo show
But any hope of a Damac comeback was quickly extinguished by Ronaldo.
First, the Portuguese striker restored Al-Nassr’s two-goal lead with a superb free kick in the 63rd minute, deflecting a low shot into the bottom right corner from outside the box.
Ronaldo then added his second and Al-Nassr’s fourth in the 81st minute. After a clever attacking move inside the penalty area, he finished from close range to end the contest.
The result ends a long wait for Ronaldo, who was finally able to lift his first league title in Saudi Arabia.
