It was in 2012 when Charlize Theron adopted her first child, Jackson Theron. According to a People report, the adoption took place before Chalize began filming his hit action movie. Mad Max: Fury Road. Years later, in May 2020, the actress spoke about her first year as a mother. On her social media, she posted a rare photo of her and Jackson on the set of the film, where Jackson can be seen lying on Charlize’s chest. In the caption, she wrote, I became a mother right before I started filming. At least my son will always remember the fun fact that ‘I spent most of the first year of my life in a war truck.’”
A year before this, in a December 2019 interview with NPR, Charlize opened up about her adoption experience. She shared that she “cast a very wide net” when it came to the early stages of the adoption process. She stated that she wanted to believe that her son would somehow find her if he did. Apparently, she applied for adoption in any country that would allow a single woman to adopt, and she wasn’t specific about anything. The mother of two shared that August had learned martial arts and the skill left her completely surprised. Charlize even claimed that she thought it was a stranger who showed it to her. In his words:
“I think a stranger walks into my house at 3 a.m. because none of us use any of the words [my kids use]. The little one learned technical martial arts, such as full technical fighting fists. “I don’t know where she learned it… I walked in the other day and she literally had my assistant like, in a back lock and a total grip and she wouldn’t let go.”
