Bitcoin Falls Below $75,000 as US-Iran Tensions Threaten to Escalate

Iranian officials blamed Trump for being misleading and inconsistent with what is really happening.

The price of Bitcoin paused at its multi-month peak above $78,000 on Friday, and subsequent contradictory actions and statements from Iran and the United States have led to another pullback to below $75,000 at press time.

The latest set of accusations came minutes ago, when reports emerged that Iran believes they are “facing a deception” by US President Donald Trump due to “inconsistency with what is actually happening.”

Additionally, Iranian officials said they believe the two sides are “on the verge of a new round of escalation,” as reported by Kobeissi’s letter.

It is worth noting that this claim has merit. There have been numerous statements from the President in the last 72 hours alone, starting with the most positive appreciation for Iran’s decision to reopen the Strait of Hormuz on Friday.

However, the US blockade remained in place and Iran decided to close the Strait just one day later. Trump began threatening once again, while saying that delegations from both nations will meet again in Pakistan for another round of peace talks. On the contrary, the Iranian news agency Tasnim saying no such plans existed.

Trump then alleged that there is a “split” in the Iranian government and threatened to “blow up” the entire country if the two nations fail to reach an agreement.

This increasing uncertainty, with just days left until the ceasefire agreement ends, led to a weekend correction for BTC as the asset just fell below $75,000. It is now down almost $4,000 from Friday’s peak.
