Pirlo is now the coach of United FC, which plays in the second division of the United Arab Emirates.

The Italian legend was in charge of Juve during the 2020-21 season and guided the Bianconeri to a fourth-place finish and qualification for the Champions League, while winning the Italian Super Cup and Coppa Italia.

However, he left Juve at the end of that season and, after a year at Turkiye, returned to Italy to coach Sampdoria.

Pirlo was unable to return Sampdoria to Serie A and, despite staying for a second season, was soon sacked.

However, Pirlo feels he has suffered unfair treatment, especially at Juve, and suggests he knows why that is.

“If I look at my career as a coach, I have always achieved the objectives,” he told SportWeek, quoted by Football Italia.

“At Juventus they asked me to qualify for the Champions League. Done. In addition, I won the Coppa Italia and the Super Cup.

“I left and I didn’t train for a year, I don’t know why. Actually, I know, but I prefer not to say it. Then I went to Karagumruk and finished seventh, a result that club had never achieved, with an unbeaten record.

“At Sampdoria we reached the Serie B play-off, just as they demanded of us. The following season they fired me after only three games.

“This season at United they asked me for promotion and I got it. I have always achieved results, but if someone doesn’t like me, it’s another story.”
