As the world holds its breath over the outcome of the U.S. meeting with Iran and whether any peace deal has been reached, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said that “the current situation is that any deal is going to be a good deal.”
He also said Trump’s priority remains preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
“I had the opportunity to speak with President Trump this morning. I wanted him to reiterate how patient he is in ensuring that, with the United States undertaking this kind of historic effort, any agreement will be good, great, and he is patient in pursuing that,” he said.
“If Iran doesn’t want to make a big deal that guarantees it won’t get a nuclear weapon,” then Iran can “deal with” the U.S. military, Hegseth said.
