How do you stay cool in summer? Last weekend, Brooklyn hit 90 degrees. Oh my god, I forgot how hot it is when it’s hot! This summer, for evening walks and walks in the park with the kids, I’d love to follow Marianne (above) and wear lightweight bedding that always feels comfortable and cool. Here are six pretty pieces…
1. Dinner in Frankies Spuntino’s garden. How cute are these options to mix and match: tank, pantsand skirt? They also come in red and polka dots.
2. A walk through the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. This 100% linen set (above + skirt) looks very pretty and comfortable. I am also in this cropped shirt and pants.
3. Ride the Cyclone in Coney Island. I’ve never spent an afternoon without sweating with the kids at Coney Island, so my strategy this year will be a light dress and a huge thermos of ice water.
4. Swimming in a hotel in the south of France. this hotel It’s pure fantasy, but while we’re daydreaming, I read a murder mystery under an umbrella, drink an ice-cold Fanta, and put on a sardine shirt with slip-on shorts.
5. An afternoon in a museum. My brother and I went to the National Portrait Gallery together this spring, and the portraits of everyone from Henry VIII to Malala Yousafzai to Harry Styles were incredible. I was wearing a rain-soaked wool sweater (like the Brit that I am), but next time I’ll feel better about a floating shirt and white pants.
6. On the playground with the children. My most worn summer outfit is a white t-shirt with shorts and this red squares It’s cute. Also in green stripes.
Thoughts? What would you wear? My friend in Copenhagen says that everyone wears white skirts; and it is not this plaid dress beautiful?
PS: Summer nail polish, and the random item I get the most compliments on.
