Sun Conjunction Neptune (March 22) · Sun Conjunction Saturn / Cazimi Window (March 24-26) · Exact Exaltation of Venus (March 24) · Venus Gandanta and Aries (March 25-26)
A lot will happen in the sky over the next eight days, and the range is wide. We move from the mystical and dreamy to the structurally intense, and then to one of the most significant Venus transitions of the spring. Here’s your guide to navigating it all mindfully.
Sun Conjunct Neptune – March 22
On Saturday, March 22, the Sun makes an exact conjunction with Neptune. I use the outer planets in my practice: they have real weight, especially when the Sun illuminates them like this.
Neptune in Vedic tradition connects with Varuna, the lord of cosmic waters, the teacher of maya and illusion, and the bestower of spiritual wisdom. When the Sun is conjunct Neptune, sunlight amplifies Neptune’s most characteristic qualities: greater sensitivity, intuition, empathy, and imagination. For those of you who are artistically or spiritually inclined, this can be a genuinely beautiful 24 to 48 hours. Ideas arrive. Creative inspiration flows. The veil between the ordinary and the numinous seems thinner.
The challenge is equally real. Neptune can create what I call psychological fog: a tendency to daydream, escapism, or difficulty coping with the more difficult aspects of daily reality. You may feel more sensitive to the emotional energy of others and be more easily depleted by negative environments or difficult conversations. I also constantly notice that Sun-Neptune energy can make financial decisions seem more inspired than they really are. Be considerate with money this weekend.
Pisces and Virgo rising will feel this most directly, with Neptune activating the axes of their first and seventh houses respectively. My recommendation for March 22: Prioritize your spiritual practice in the morning, limit time with stressful people or situations, and enjoy creative work or time in nature. Tree pose in yoga is a wonderful support during Sun-Neptune periods: it draws solar energy into the crown chakra and helps balance Neptune’s more dissolute tendencies.
Sun conjunct Saturn: March 25 and Cazimi window (March 24-26)
A few days later, the Sun reaches its exact conjunction with Saturn in Pisces, the peak of the Saturn burn period that has been occurring since early March. I wrote about the full arc of this combustion period in a recent article and I invite you to read it to get the full picture. The short version: Combusting Saturn can bring real pressure: tension with authority figures, dips in confidence, a quiet sense of isolation or heaviness.
But this is where things get genuinely interesting, and that’s why I want you to mark From March 24 to 26 on your calendar specifically.
When Saturn is approximately 40 arcminutes from the Sun (what medieval astrology calls Cazimi), something completely changes. Instead of being overwhelmed by solar fire, the planet enters the very heart of the Sun and receives energy from it. The most positive qualities of Saturn emerge: deep discipline, reliability, meditative clarity, and the capacity for genuine spiritual commitment. A useful example: Oprah Winfrey has Venus Cazimi in her birth chart and has brought out the most powerful and luminous qualities of Venus throughout her life. The same energizing principle applies to Saturn in this transit window.
I’ve been observing Saturn’s combustion patterns for almost four decades, and the Cazimi window is one of those phenomena that I find consistently validated. Use intentionally March 24-26. If there’s a discipline you’ve been trying to establish, a long-delayed commitment you need to make, a difficult conversation about responsibility you’ve been avoiding, this is the window for it. Saturn in Cazimi doesn’t make things easy, but it makes the effort feel aligned with something bigger and more lasting.
Notice something beautiful about this particular Cazimi window: it coincides exactly with Venus reaching its precise degree of exaltation on March 24. The spiritual discipline of Saturn illuminated by the Sun, while Venus simultaneously reaches its peak of grace and devotion, all in Pisces. That is a rare and significant combination of energies to have available on the same day.
Outside Cazimi’s window, give yourself some grace. Reduce sugar, rest more than usual, support your immune system. Be patient with bosses and authority figures. Remember: the antidote to the heaviness of Saturn is always Venus: music, beauty, warmth and human connection. Lean on them deliberately this week. Capricorn and Aquarius rising will feel the Cazimi window more positively.
Venus in exact exaltation – March 24
On Monday, March 24, Venus reaches 27 degrees of Pisces, the precise degree of her exaltation and the peak of her expression in this entire sign.
As I wrote in our Venus in Pisces article earlier this month, the exalted Venus in Pisces is Venus in her purest and most powerful form. Freed from Virgo’s critical analytical mind, she can finally express her deepest nature: love as devotion, creativity as spiritual practice, beauty as a genuine path to the Divine. In Pisces, Venus can become a Guru as great as Jupiter himself. She rules over wealth, the blessings of Lakshmi, poetry, beautiful clothing, fine arts and music, but she is also, at her finest, a teacher who guides us from material existence to something transcendent. I explore its depth in my book. Zodiac life signs for those who want to go deeper.
The fact that this falls on the same day that the Saturn Cazimi window opens makes March 24 a genuinely powerful day: the clarity of Saturn and the grace of Venus arrive together. Use it for creative work, to deepen intimacy, to open your heart unconditionally. If you’ve been feeling emotionally worn down by the pressures of March, let this day offer you true restoration.
Pisces, Gemini, Virgo and Sagittarius rising benefit from what is called Malavya Yoga in transit: Venus exalted in an angular house, supporting home, happiness and career simultaneously. If you are one of these four rising signs, Monday the 24th is a particularly auspicious day for any significant personal or creative endeavors.
Venus Gandanta and Aries: March 25 and 26
And then, almost immediately, the energy changes.
On Tuesday, March 25, Venus leaves its exact exaltation and begins to cross Gandanta, the emotional knot on the border between Pisces and Aries (Pisces 29.20 – Aries 0.40). It officially enters Aries on the 25th, and Gandanta’s influence is felt until the 26th, remaining in Aries until April 19. This is one of the most jarring transitions of the astrological year of Venus. From its highest expression in Pisces to the sign of an enemy, ruled by its adversary Mars, the contrast is sharp and usually felt quickly.
The Gandanta is a zone of intensity and emotional unraveling. Relationships that seemed harmonious can suddenly become volatile. The fluid grace of Pisces gives way to the ego-driven “my way” energy of Aries, where we want to be right more than we want to be close. Take a close look at your most important relationships from March 25 to 26.
Mars is a bitter enemy of Venus, and the dark side of this placement is real: moving too quickly in relationships, arguments driven by wounded pride rather than genuine disagreement, becoming intimate before the foundation is solid. The first degrees of Aries, in the constellation Ashwini, can push Venus into a tug-of-war between passion and sudden withdrawal. Slow down before reacting.
For Libra rising and especially Taurus rising, this transition will be felt most acutely: your ruling planet goes from its highest expression into difficult territory in the span of a single day. Be patient with your relationships during these first few days. The good news is that once Venus passes the first Ashwini degrees into Bharani Nakshatra around after April 7, she becomes more playful, creative and generous – the fire of Aries produces passionate expression rather than friction.
The week in summary
Begin with a creative spiritual opening on the 22nd. Move toward intentional commitment and grace on the 24th: a rare convergence of Saturn Cazimi and Venus in exact exaltation. Navigate Saturn’s peak on the 25th with patience and self-care. Then prepare, with awareness, not fear, for the relational intensity that comes when Venus crosses into Aries.
Navigate these days consciously and you will emerge from March having genuinely worked with the sky rather than simply having been moved by it. The planets are your teachers. They are not punishing you, they are asking you to be awake.
