The IAG-owned airline has selected Viasat to power the free-to-use service. The platform is already available on more than half of the airline’s fleet and operates through a direct connection to the server on board the aircraft, so it does not require Wi-Fi or external connectivity.

Through the portal, customers will be able to enjoy a selection of entertainment that will be updated seasonally. The current catalog includes some movies and television shows, as well as an interactive 3D map. The airline will generate ancillary revenue through access to the onboard menu and shop, and the portal also provides direct access to GetYourGuide, allowing customers to explore activities at their destination.

Melanie Berry, Chief Customer Officer at Vueling, said: “With this new in-flight entertainment offering, Vueling continues to improve the customer experience by offering them more ways to enjoy their time in the air. The platform makes it easy to access content and services from any personal device throughout the flight.”

Don Buchman, President of Viasat Aviation, commented: “We are incredibly proud to partner with Vueling to offer an enriched and connected inflight experience, powered by the European Aviation Network. The service puts free entertainment in the hands of Vueling passengers and underlines our shared commitment to improving the inflight experience and passenger satisfaction.”
