The five-time European champions drew 1-1 in the first leg at St James’ Park. Lamine Yamal converted a penalty in the 96th minute in response to Harvey Barnes’ goal 10 minutes earlier.

The winners of the tie will face either Atlético Madrid or Tottenham in the quarter-finals in April. Those teams will meet in London later on Wednesday (20:00 GMT), when the Spanish team will start with a 5-2 lead.
