Netherlands inflation remains stable at 2.4% in February

Consumer goods and services in the Netherlands were 2.4 percent more expensive in February 2026 than in February 2025, according to data published by Statistics Netherlands (CBS). Inflation remained unchanged from January, matching the preliminary estimate released on March 3, 2026. On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 1 percent compared to January.

Price changes for international flights contributed to higher inflation. Flight prices rose 0.2 percent year-on-year, after being 9.7 percent lower in January. Clothing and footwear prices also added upward pressure to inflation.

Consumer prices in the Netherlands increased by 2.4 percent year-on-year in February 2026, the same as in January, according to official data. Rising costs of international flights and clothing contributed to higher inflation, while slower increases in food and non-alcoholic beverage prices tempered the overall increase. Month over month, prices increased 1 percent.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages helped moderate inflation, rising 1.2 percent year-on-year in February, compared with a 2.0 percent increase in January. Seasonal factors, such as clothing sales, can also temporarily influence price changes from month to month.

According to the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), consumer prices in the Netherlands increased by 2.3 percent year-on-year in February, up from 2.2 percent in January.

Across the euro area, inflation rose from 1.7 percent to 1.9 percent. Energy prices fell in the euro area, while in the Netherlands they remained stable, and service price increases were higher in the Netherlands than the euro area average.
