Have you ever packed a nice dress for a trip? Sometimes I just throw a bunch of everyday clothes into a suitcase. But when Alison returned from a family trip and showed me this photo, I remembered the joy of a vacation dress.
“Packing this dress and I wore it all week,” Alison told me. “The breathable bedding was comfortable for everything from long sightseeing walks to dinners in the town square. Inspired, I searched for a few more, perfect for restaurant dinners or just walking around…
1. Elegant brown. Fun fact: Did you know that Magnetic Fields singer Stephin Merritt only wears brown? I once interviewed him for a story from New York magazineand he said the same thing about the stains: “The brown shows absolutely nothing. You would have to spill a little fuchsia paint.” I love Alison’s linen dress and this polka dot midi – both are for sale.
2. Crisp white. this dress It’s a splurge, but how cute is the eyelet hem? Honestly, it would work well for a casual wedding. Two less expensive options: linen and trimmed with lace.
3. Explosion of red. Red looks very striking in summer, especially against blue water and green trees. This easy silhouette It feels like something Marianne would wear on Normal People, don’t you think? I like this too midi and cheesecloth.
4. Elegant leopard. My friend Frosso reports that everyone is wearing leopard print right now in Paris. Noted! I would go for this cotton midi skirt either cool shirt dress.
