Not only is it the first departure of the redesigned Starship V3 tonight, but the launch pad has also been renovated. Flight 12 will mark the first launch from Pad 2 at the SpaceX Starbase facility in Texas.
“The booster park that stores the necessary products has been improved with greater storage capacity and many more pumps, allowing for much faster filling of vehicles for launch,” the company said in a statement.
He added: “On the launch tower, the sticks are now shorter, allowing for faster movement to better track vehicles during capture operations. Their main actuators have been changed from hydraulic to electromechanical to improve speed, redundancy and reliability. The quick disconnect arm for loading propellant on Starship’s upper stage has been reinforced, repackaged and now rotates further away from the rocket during launch.”
