• The Lot 6 contract maintains the Army’s modernization and rapid deployment approach

PHILADELPHIA, April 15, 2026 – The US military awarded Boeing [NYSE: BA] a contract for six CH-47F Block II Chinook helicopters. The $324 million contract builds on the Army’s acquisition strategy to put critical equipment in the hands of the warfighter sooner and increases the number of CH-47F Block II aircraft under contract to 24.

“The continued production awards reflect the Army’s confidence in the CH-47F Block II as a critical capability to manage logistics in challenging environments across multiple domains and across diverse operations,” said Heather McBryan, vice president and payload program manager, Boeing Defense, Space & Security. “Block II Chinooks provide commanders with greater operational range, faster resupply and enhanced protection for forces operating in austere and contested environments.”

The Lot 6 deal follows two other awards last year, including the first contract as part of the Army’s Rapid Fielding decision.

Boeing has delivered six CH-47F Block II production helicopters to the Army. The Army is preparing to deploy the first equipped unit no later than mid-28 after the delivery of the Lot 3 Block II aircraft.

The CH-47F Block II features enhanced capabilities:

  • A reinforced powertrain and airframe that adds 4,000 pounds to the aircraft’s maximum gross weight and therefore significantly increased lift capacity.
  • Innovative fuel system changes extend mission radius for nearly all payloads.
  • Improved sustainability and ability to accommodate future affordable upgrades.
