Cesc Fàbregas’ Como moves to Serie A champions league places with a well-deserved victory over Roma.

It was a match that changed when Wesley received a controversial second yellow card for a challenge on Assane Diao, a decision that appeared harsh, with replays suggesting Devyne Rensch may have contributed to the fall.

Roma had taken the lead through a Donyell Malen penalty in the seventh minute after Djibril Sow went over Joao Cancelo inside the area.

Como dominated possession and had the best chances throughout, coming close through Nico Paz and Alex Valle before his persistence paid off. Half-time substitute Tasos Douvikas equalized in the 59th minute, jumping the offside trap to finish under Mile Svilar at the near post.

The decisive moment came in the 79th minute, when defender Diego Carlos attacked a corner and finished from close range.

Como moved up to fourth place in the Champions League with the victory, overtaking Roma and Juventus in the process.

Lazio 1-0 AC Milan

Gustav Isaksen’s early goal gave Lazio a famous victory over title-chasing AC Milan at the Stadio Olimpico, dealing a blow to Massimiliano Allegri’s side in the race for the Serie A title.

The Danish winger scored in the 26th minute, taking advantage of an assist from Adam Marusic to give the hosts a lead that they would defend resolutely for the rest of the match.

AC Milan striker Rafael Leao playing football

Milan dominated possession, finishing with 57 per cent of the ball and creating opportunities throughout, Kenneth Taylor hitting the crossbar and Mike Maignan coming into action with four saves at the other end.

A VAR control for a possible Milan penalty came to nothing.

The result leaves Milan second in Serie A, nine points behind Inter and with the games running out. Lazio’s Maurizio Sarri also received a red card during the second half for dissent, adding to the drama of the night at the Olimpico.

Rennes 1-2 Lille

Lille recorded an impressive away victory at Roazhon Park, recovering from an early setback to beat Rennes.

Matías Fernández-Pardo scored after two minutes to give Lille a lightning start, finishing off surprising the hosts.

Rennes pushed for an equalizer during the first half, but could not find a way through. Hakon Arnar Haraldsson doubled the visitors’ lead in the 47th minute immediately after the restart, and although Esteban Lepaul pulled one back for the hosts in the 59th minute, Lille held on to take all three points.

The result puts Lille in seventh place in Ligue 1, level on points with Rennes in sixth, as the battle for European football in France enters a crucial stage.
