For me it is a home away from home. I have been visiting the magical White Island for more than 25 years, sometimes for entire summers, sometimes simply by plane to review a hotel or discover a new club.

Santa Eulalia is one of my favorite areas to stay. An elegant seaside town on the east coast, it is perfect if you are looking for a balance between beach, calm and luxury. It is also well located for trips north or south.

Full of elegant and beautiful beachfront hotels, it has a calm atmosphere. Ideal if you want a relaxed stay with a few fun nights. A car is useful here, but not essential.

Perfect for: Couples, families, luxury travelers, relaxed vacations, low-key nightlife.

2. Ibiza Town and Talamanca Bay (central, elegant and close to clubs)

Perfect if you want to immerse yourself in the party scene but still enjoy stylish restaurants, shops and a central base.

Close to the airport, marina, shops and super clubs like Pacha. You get the best of both worlds: culture and clubbing. Ibiza town does not have its own beach, but Talamanca is ideal for beach lovers.

Talamanca Bay is a beautiful beach area near Ibiza town.

Perfect for: Trendy travelers, nightclubs, short stays.
Best hotels:

3. Playa d’en Bossa (best clubbing holiday)

If you are here to have fun, this is the place. Playa d’en Bossa is home to the largest nightclubs on the island and the most emblematic party hotels. If you’re here for Hola, Ushuaia and a host of beach clubs, stay here.

Perfect for: Groups, bachelor/ette parties, party weekends.
Best hotels:

• Ushuaia Ibiza – Legendary party hotel with its own club.
• Hard Rock Hotel – American brand with access to the beach.
• It’s Live – Affordable, art deco style with Miami vibes. Currently in Figueretas halfway between Bossa and Ibiza city.

Please note: it is full. Loud, wild and fun. You probably won’t need a car here: you won’t see much daylight!

4. The North (Peaceful retreats and spiritual getaways)

If what you are looking for tranquility, nature and healingThe north is your refuge. It is ideal for wellness getaways, yoga and completely disconnecting. You will need a car, but it is worth it.

Perfect for: Wellness holidays, solo retreats, romantic getaways.
And be sure to explore the pristine beaches of the north and head to Benirrás to witness the famous hippie sunset ritual.

Best retirement hotels:

• Atzaró Agrotourism – My favorite hotel of all time. The original Boho luxury hotels with spa, gardens and wonderful tranquility. Expensive but worth it. Even if you don’t stay, day passes to the spa are available.
• Six Senses Ibiza – Destination spa hotel. Secluded, luxurious and deeply rooted in nature.
• Can Lluc – Hybrid villa-hotel with a quiet and luxurious country atmosphere.

You’ll definitely need a car here, and some places are hard to find; Bring directions, as the phone signal may fail.

5. San Antonio (economical and evolving)

This area is known for cheap stays and a younger crowd, but it is changing. San Antonio Bay now has some new luxury options It is also appearing in the San Antonio Bay area.

Be warned: Main Street is still dominated by British partiers and spring break vibes. And downtown San Antonio is a concrete jungle, by island standards. But if you know where to go, you can find charm. Sunset beach clubs like Cala Gracionata, Hostel la Torre and restaurants like Madunia are upping the game.

Perfect for: Budget travelers, younger audiences, sunset seekers.
Best hotels and places:

• Oku Ibiza – Luxury and design hotel in San Antonio Bay.
• Conceptual hotels like cubanito and The Happy Ones – Instagrammable, cheap and fun, but not for luxury travelers.
• Petunia Ibiza – Boho and peaceful, with magical views of the Es Vedra sunset. Actually, not in San Antonio, but out west.

Villas and Fincas: a great option for groups

Ibiza is full of impressive villas and estates (converted farmhouses). They are perfect for groups or families who want privacy and space.

To take into account:

• Rent a car: it is essential.
• Some villas are located on dirt roads that are not listed on Google Maps.
• Taxis may have a hard time finding you, especially during peak season.

Still, they offer a magical escape and total freedom.

Bonus idea: escape to Formentera
