Footage shows the vivid green ball racing over Russia’s capital, glowing brightly against a pitch-black sky.

The fire is seen advancing at full speed over high-rise buildings, bursting into flames and then disappearing into the clouds.

One amazed viewer shared the moment online and it racked up thousands of views.

He described seeing a “very bright” and “slow-moving” meteor over the city.

His video attracted widespread attention, with many comparing the fireball to the 2013 Chelyabinsk meteor.

The rock hurtled toward Russia at a staggering speed of 12 miles per second, causing widespread damage and injuries.

Although this fireball is not believed to have caused any damage, the strange event has raised a number of safety issues.

Just last year, a huge meteor exploded into a white fireball while flying at an incredible 3,500 mph over Yakutia, Russia’s largest and coldest region.

Meanwhile in the UK Lucky Brits in Northfields and Ealing, West London, reported seeing a bright spot career through the city sky on Tuesday evening.

Others claimed to have seen the unusual sighting from Wimbledon and Hampstead Heath.

And some even reported seeing places as far away as Brighton and Grantham.

One viewer described seeing the “ray” of light break through the clouds around 8:10 pm to 8:30 pm, and initially believed it was fireworks.

It happened just days before another incredible “fireball” was seen over Kent.

Jamie McBean managed to capture the spectacle on the security camera at her home in Herne Bay at 7.10pm.

One stargazer wrote on Reddit: “I’m used to seeing planes coming and going to Heathrow, and also helicopters coming and going – this wasn’t that.

“My next I thought it was fireworks, but I’m 90 percent sure it wasn’t that and there was no explosion.

“It was a very strange combination of speed, size and brightness and was like nothing I had seen before in the sky here.”
