More than 200 plant employees at Lufthansa Technik’s landing gear overhaul facility in Hayes, London, have won a 5% pay rise following negotiations reached by the British union Unite.
The site’s skilled workforce reconditions the landing gears of a variety of passenger aircraft, including the Airbus A380. The new agreement offers a 5% increase in all pay conditions over the next 12 months, an increase that exceeds current inflation levels.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “Unite is the winning union and our members in aeronautical engineering for Lufthansa Technik We fully deserve this higher-than-inflation pay premium. They are highly trained and ensure the safety and maintenance of critical aerospace equipment.
“There is power in a union and our members are to be congratulated for sticking together to ensure they receive fair wages and conditions.”
Bind Regional Officer Joe McGowan added: “This agreement is a recognition and reward for our members who have made the Hayes plant a global center of excellence for landing gear overhaul.”
