President Donald Trump announced today that he has agreed to reduce fentanyl-related tariffs on China from 20 percent to 10 percent and overall tariffs on imported Chinese goods from 57 percent to 47 percent after an “incredible” meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea. Both sides have reached a one-year agreement on rare earths that will be extended after a year.

He also said a dispute between China and the United States had been “resolved.”

China will buy “tremendous quantities” of American soybeans and other agricultural products “starting immediately,” and a one-year deal on rare earths has been reached that will be extended after a year, Trump was quoted as saying by global news outlets. China will suspend a rare earth licensing regime after at least a year.

Rating their meeting a 12 on a scale of one to 10, Trump said he would visit China in April next year and that it would be followed by Xi’s visit to the United States.
