The ‘planned maintenance’ problem caused the Navitaire to be discontinued

A major Navitaire system outage on the morning of February 19, 2026 caused widespread disruptions at airports in India and parts of Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, leaving passengers stranded in long queues as airlines scrambled to switch to manual processes.

The outage began at 06:45. IST, when Navitaire’s booking, booking and departure control systems were simultaneously taken offline at several airports. The initial outage, attributed to a problem following planned maintenance, lasted until 07:28.

Airlines that rely on the platform, including IndiGo, Akasa Air, Air India Express and SpiceJet, lost access to automated check-in, boarding and reservation tools.

The disruption was felt most acutely at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, where complications were amplified by the ongoing AI Summit 2026, which had a number of VIP movements and security restrictions at the time.

A declaration of ownership of Amedeus Navitario said: “On February 19, a planned maintenance change unexpectedly caused network instability for airlines hosted on Navitaire. Technical teams took immediate action and the issue was fully resolved after 50 minutes. We apologize for any inconvenience caused to our customers. All services are currently operating normally.”

While India was hardest hit by the disruption, Navitaire-dependent airlines in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region also experienced check-in delays and boarding delays.
