How do our loved ones see us and how do we see them? How do our backstories unite us and how do we build a new canon with our loved ones by our side? Love is everywhere, and in 2026, the social media panopticon has offered different interpretations of what love could look like. But at Men’s Folio, we believe that the truest display of love is that which comes from an internal, uninterrupted source. The lovers themselves. For Valentine’s Day, we brought together three couples from Singapore and Malaysia to talk about what it means to truly show each other how we love each other.
Jae, Gemini, Senior Creative Designer
Rachelle, Aquarius, art director

Jae: I applied to work at Zouk about four years ago and Rachelle was one of my interviewers and later my direct supervisor. We bonded very quickly because I admired his work and we had a lot in common. One day, she invited me to have a nice sleepover with her cats and I haven’t been home since. Since then we eat, sleep and go to work together.
What is the best thing about Jae?
Rachel: His charisma and sense of humor. It has a way of lighting up any room it enters. I also admire your curiosity; He’s always discovering new movies and music, which is our shared passion and what brought us together.

Jae: She is God’s strongest Russian soldier and always pushes me to be the best version of myself. Behind that snotty face is an incredibly big heart and the silliest sense of humor, something only those closest to her can see. She’s hardworking, but she plays even harder, and I find that very attractive.
Love over logic? Or logic in love?
Jae: Love over logic.
Rachel: Logic in love.
Kei, Libra, Creative
Kira, Sagittarius, Musician

Kei and Kira: We met by chance at a show in Tokyo, realized we were mutual, and spent the night talking and walking around the city. We bonded over our shared love of music and fashion tastes.
Kei: It was my first time in Tokyo. Kira is a musician, so she introduced me to the city’s underground music scene and took me to the shows she performed at. We had the best 90 days together until the limit of my tourist visa separated us…
kira: Then, after a few excruciating months of long distance, I decided to take a plane to his hometown to show him that I was serious about wanting to be together. We’ve been glued to each other’s hips since the day I landed.

Kei: His support, his softness towards his loved ones, his style and his endless daily jokes.
What is the best thing about Kei?
kira: His beautiful personality, he is so kind, how sexy he is.
Love over logic? Or logic in love?
Kei and Kira: Logic in love.
Jenn, Aries, student and content creator
Zhang Yong, Cancer, Student

Jenn: We met when I was coming to Kuala Lumpur to attend a Billie Eilish concert. He wanted to meet me even though he had little time and I accepted. We clicked instantly and I felt a sense of comfort and warmth with him. It just felt good!
ZY: I met her through a mutual friend and sent her a message to meet her because of my interest.
What are your favorite memories of each other?
Jenn: When we didn’t have transportation when we started going out. We went everywhere by public transport or taxis. One particular day, as we were walking up the escalator at the train station, he kissed me.

Love over logic or logic in love?
Jenn: Both matter, but love without empathy is not logical at all!
ZY: Both matter. But I do believe that love is so powerful that sometimes it transcends logic. People do many things for love and I think it’s wonderful.
