The changes in Google Clock 8.3 will be very useful for you

The past year has probably been the most significant and successful for Android app redesigns. Yeah, I don’t know how you feel about Material 3 Expressive, but it sure works well on me Pixel 6 Pro, which has enjoyed a second life thanks to the combination of the Android 16 QPR1 update and Material 3 Expressive makeovers. The pair has given some life to the old one and if it weren’t for the battery I would be replacing my iPhone 15 Pro Max with Pixel 6 Pro.

Google’s decision to put Gemini everywhere has been incredible and replacing Google Assistant with Gemini is a no-brainer. I would love to see Google bring the Magic Cue to the Pixel 6 Series. This feature, a Exclusive to Pixel 10, take proactive actions based on the context of your actions. For example, if you need to call the airline to change your flight, Magic Cure can display information related to your current reservation on the screen without you having to request it.

Google Clock app version 8.3 has started rolling out

Google has started rolling out the latest version of the Google Clock app. This is an all-in-one clock app that gives you the current time in cities around the world. In a movement that is typical Alphabet subsidiary Google has added local temperature and weather conditions to the cities you track on your world clock. For example, while I may complain about the cold I feel in Salem, Massachusetts, where it’s 49 degrees, a glance at the world clock allows me to see that my poor colleagues in Sofia are even colder, 43 degrees. Stay warm guys!

But that’s not the new feature that comes with Google Clock 8.3. The novelty is a change in the background of the application. Previously, your wallpaper would be the background when the alarm went off and would show the time along with buttons to Snooze or Stop the alarm. But that led to users sometimes getting confused and not being able to see the numbers in the app as a wallpaper mixed with the Google Clock UI.

The Google Clock Settings menu is also renewed

With version 8.3, the background is a solid color that makes the screen easier to read. The background of the Snooze and Stop buttons are the main color themes taken from the wallpaper. At the top of the screen there’s a little tab that suggests how to use a quick phrase like “Snooze” or “Stop” to make the alarm do what you say.

The Settings menu has also been reorganized. Open the app and tap the three-dot menu icon in the top right corner. From there, tap Settings and the menu will be organized in the following order:

  • Alarms
  • world clock
  • Minute
  • Screen saver

As Gemini slowly replaces Google Assistant, all traces of what was once the best virtual digital assistant in the business are disappearing. For example, when setting an alarm with the Google Clock app, you used to be able to create something called a Google Assistant Routine that would play the day’s weather forecast or top news stories when the alarm went off. Since Google Assistant is a name of the past, the feature is now called Routines and the three-dot Assistant logo is replaced with a trio of “Flashes,” which is now synonymous with Gemini.

Another interesting change that’s apparently coming to Google Clock 8.3 is one that displays the numbers that make up the time an alarm is set for. getting thicker and thinner in rhythm. This is done to capture the user’s attention.

If you want to know which version of Google Clock is on your phone, go to Settings > Apps > See all apps xxx. Scroll down to Google Clock and tap it. That will take you to the Google Clock app information page. Scroll down to the bottom and you will see the version number at the bottom of the page. If you don’t have the Google Clock app on your Android phone, you can install it from Play Store tapping this link.

Google Clock 8.3 is slowly rolling out. My Pixel 6 Pro run Android 16 QPR2 Beta 3.1 currently has version 8.2 of the application.
