Staying in the best hotel in the world – Capella Bangkok

‘Capella’ means the brightest star in the constellation. I can’t think of a more appropriate name for this stellar hotel. Read on to find out what it’s really like to stay at the best hotel in the world!

Bangkok Chapel It has been voted #1 in the World’s 50 Best Hotels 2024. It has also received numerous awards from Conde Nast Traveller, Forbes, Travel and Leisure and many more. Including the best city hotel and the best spa in Bangkok.

I was lucky enough to be invited for a 3 night stay. Here’s why I think it deserves your incredible praise.

Location

Located on the peaceful banks of the Chao Priya River, Capella Bangkok is located in the most exclusive (and expensive) area of the city. All the bright suites and villas offer stunning views of the river and Bangkok skyline.

Bangkok’s main tourist attractions, shopping streets and restaurants are easily accessible by road, as well as by the hotel’s luxury yacht transfer service. Navigate to Icon siam Mall and the nearest BTS skytrain station.

I loved the yacht so much that one night I went sailing at sunset, just to enjoy the views.

The Hotel

Being crowned the best hotel in the world is no easy task. This aesthetically beautiful hotel is all about service and impeccable attention to detail.

All hotel staff know your name and greet you when you see them. They are so intuitive and experienced in hospitality that they often doubt your every need.

The hotel’s feng shui design, Zen music, mood lighting, artwork and floral installations are expertly curated to promote well-being. There is a beautiful atmosphere of peace and tranquility.

The Rooms

The suites and villas are designed with the utmost sophistication. The subtle color palette is neutral and elegant. All rooms are extremely spacious, full of light, have outdoor space and are intelligently designed to make the most of the space.

Of course, they come with all the state-of-the-art amenities, rain shower, huge widescreen TVs with surround sound, Bluetooth speaker, retro chic coffee machines, fully stocked craft cocktail station, and the most luxurious mini bar and snacks I’ve ever seen. I also loved that the welcome drinks included champagne and cocktails, as well as rehydrating fresh coconut water with the hotel’s branding, still in its shell.

The rooms are controlled by a centralized iPad, which closes the curtains, heats or cools the room. You can also speak to reception, concierge and request room service.

I loved the attention to detail. When my room was tidied, the cable chargers were almost tied up with hotel-brand leather ties. Likewise, the sunglasses left aside were polished and placed on a soft branded cleaning cloth.

Everything you need is provided, from manicure kits, hotel-exclusive scented products, luxury slippers and silk robes and towels. You can literally arrive with no amenities and still have everything you need.

I loved that each guest receives 5 ironed items upon arrival. Also, for days when you don’t want to leave the room, the privacy closet is a two-way closet, where room service can place a coffee or food in a cubby, ring the doorbell, and the guest can simply pick up the item from the closet without interacting with anyone.

It’s basically the perfect room. I can’t think of anything that was missing. Literally every detail was covered.

Bar food at Stellar Bar

Food and drink

As you would expect, when staying at the Best Hotel in the World, the food and drink offering is exceptional.

Most of the fresh ingredients used in both the Chao Priya restaurant and the Michelin-starred Côte by Mauro Colagreco are grown in the hotel’s garden. You can even take a thoughtful tour of the hotel gardens and meet the chefs.

Mauro Colagreco Coast

Mauro Colagreco is an Argentine chef awarded three Michelin stars. Its ‘Riviera to River’ concept combines local Thai products with traditional Mediterranean recipes.

The Stellar Bar is a decadent 1930s art deco experience. The glass and mirrored boudoir interior is adorned with hand-painted silk wallpaper and resplendent seating areas fit for the King of Siam. A magical stuffed white peacock forms the centerpiece of this truly splendid room.

Bangkok’s best cocktails are accompanied by delicious bar snacks, including oysters, great sushi and popcorn chicken. It seems that the singers already have recording contracts. It is the most fabulous evening.

afternoon tea

Capella Bangkok’s afternoon tea is something of a legend in Bangkok. Featuring an artisanal selection of teas from Mariage Freres in Paris, paired with an elegant range of pastries, savory delights and classic homemade scones.

Enjoy views of the ornamental water gardens with water lilies and stunning views of the river beyond.

the pool

When you arrive at the riverside pool, the butlers immediately bring you elegant fluffy towels, cold or ice water in a poolside glass, fruit snacks, and sunscreen. Perfect service.

The spa

The Capella Bangkok spa has been awarded Best Spa in Bangkok by Travel and Leisure magazine, which I think pretty much sums up how good the level of service and quality of treatments is. Added to this is the most beautifully designed spa circuit and wellness rooms and gardens. It’s simply heavenly.

Cin Cin Hour

Every day at 5:00 pm, all hotel guests are invited to Cin Cin Hour, where they can enjoy complimentary cocktails and snacks before heading to their room to prepare for dinner.

Staying in the best hotel in the world!

In short, I can completely understand why Capella Bangkok has been voted the best hotel in the world in 2024. It is truly exceptional. What you realize when you stay here is that it’s not flashy or loud, it’s about discreet luxury, well-being, real, authentic and intuitive service and attention to detail. To really understand why this hotel is fantastic, you need to stay here and experience it.
