I sell sunset is back on Netflix after eight successful seasons. Adam DiVello created the American reality television series that revolves around the Oppenheim Group. It is a luxury brokerage company in Los Angeles, known for selling multi-million dollar homes to wealthy clients. The show is about them navigating friendship, rivalries, and drama.
As the ninth season of the show is all set to stream on Netflix starting November 5, 2025, the feud between close friends Emma Hernan and Chrishell Stause continues. While fans were surprised when season eight ended on a positive note for them, something happened behind the scenes when they broke up, and it apparently happened because of Emma’s boyfriend, Blake Davis.
Why did Emma and Chrishell end their friendship?
For those who don’t remember, the eighth season of I sell sunset He saw the cracks in Emma and Chrishell’s friendship. It all stemmed from Emma’s relationship with her then-new boyfriend, Blake Davis. However, at the end of season eight, Chrishell and Emma were back on good terms and the latter decided to break up with Blake.
However, off camera, things were different than how they were portrayed on the show. Emma got back together with Blake, which Chrishell didn’t like, as she claimed her boyfriend made derogatory comments about her and her partner, G Flip.

Chrishell slams Emma’s boyfriend Blake, claims he had a lot of red flags
In an interview with Variety, Chrishell opened up about her fight with Emma. She revealed that fans get a glimpse into Blake’s personality, much of which was “left out” of the show. Chrishell revealed that when she met Blake, a lot of red flags came up in a brief meeting. She said:
“When I met him, there were a lot of red flags that came up in a short meeting. Sometimes you meet someone and you might not like the way they dress, or it might bother you because it’s a little awkward. I found the real thing dangerous with his personality.”

Chrishell further stated that Blake mentioned that she made mean comments about him and that she doesn’t find it normal. He also stated that he was not like that on camera and acted differently around her. She shared:
“Anyone who knows this man wouldn’t want their friend to date him. Of course, he wasn’t like that on camera. He acted one way with me. Then he came on camera and flipped the script.”
Chrishell further stated that Blake’s behavior was extremely problematic towards her and her boyfriend. She revealed that Blake compared non-binary people to mental illness, and it was a direct dig at her partner. She said:
“At first, he was nice to me. He was just saying extremely problematic things. I have a deep core problem with people who think that way, so it was disturbing. Even though he was being nice, he compared non-binary people to mental illness. That’s my partner, who I love very much.”

Chrishell added that she found it “frustrating” that Emma continued her relationship with Blake even after showing concern about her behavior. He said he initially sympathized with her and wanted to be there for her. Chrishell added that when Emma called her after a breakup with Blake and revealed all the worst things she did to her. While supporting her during difficult times, Emma decided to rekindle her relationship with Blake. Emma posted from Blake’s yacht and stopped responding to his call.
Chrishell stated that at first she thought Emma was innocent, but then she realized that the two were together, and that was her choice when she decided to get back with Blake and end their friendship. He even claimed that Emma stopped talking to Chelsea Lazkani.

Also, in the interaction, Chrishell talked about Blake’s surprise proposal to Emma. She said it wasn’t a surprise to her. He added that it is the manual that if someone does something terribly wrong and is afraid of losing their daughter, they try to make it up to them. They make something big like a ‘proposal’.

Chrishell called it a tried and tested scenario. Recalling Emma’s last conversation, she claimed that when she told him at the end of season eight that they had broken up, she believed it was for good. However, at the end of the reunion they were back together.

When asked if Chrishell thinks she would get back together with Emma, she responded with a resounding no. She stated that she no longer wants to be friends with him, as they do not align and have different morals. She admitted that Emma decided to break up with Blake after Chrishell publicly announced the former’s boyfriend’s comment to her partner.
It’s worth mentioning that Emma has yet to address Chrishell’s feud and accusation about why their friendship ended.
