Satish Shah’s passing away left a huge void in the hearts of many, especially his wife, Madhu, who has been battling Alzheimer’s. It is an age-related problem in which a person suffers from memory loss and it worsens over time. Satish Shah wanted to live a healthy life so that Madhu would provide him with support, but fate had other plans and he died due to cardiac arrest on October 25, 2025.
Satish Shah’s wife, Madhu’s heartbreaking question during his funeral
Recently, Satish Shah’s friend and on-screen wife Ratna Pathak Shah wrote an obituary for him in The Indian Express. Ratna recalled her conversation with Satish Shah’s wife Madhu at his funeral and revealed the heartbreaking thing she said to him. Ratna revealed that Satish’s friends and family gathered at his funeral as his face was still the first time in years. However, when they turned to Madhu, who had been with him for 45 years, she was in total disbelief. Ratna revealed Madhu’s question to him during Satish’s funeral. She wrote:
“Is this really happening? He asked me, his eyes stunned and his hands stiff. As he was led away, we gathered around him and tried to make sense of the events.”
Ratna further added that Satish wanted to live for his wife and take care of her in her difficult times. He sang lovingly for Madhu and she wondered who would sing to her and with her after Satish passed away. Ratna Pathak also revealed how Madhu joined the actors celebrating Satish Shah during their prayer meeting by singing his show’s song. She wrote:
“Madhu was able to join in; at first he sang softly and tentatively, as if surprised that the man associated with these songs was not present. But then he simply gave in to the warmth of the loved ones who gathered to celebrate his life, as they marked his passage to another stage. His voice rose and he seemed to be singing to his Satish.”
Satish Shah underwent kidney transplant to care for his ailing wife at 74
For the unversed, Satish Shah, at the age of 74, underwent a kidney transplant earlier this year to take care of his ailing wife, Madhu. Actor-filmmaker Sachin Pilgaonkar, interacting with ANI, revealed that Satish Shah underwent a kidney transplant to prolong his wife’s life. He added that his wife is also not feeling well because she suffers from Alzheimer’s. The 74-year-old actor was on dialysis. Sachin was quoted as saying:
“He received a kidney transplant just to prolong his wife’s life. Unfortunately, even Madhu is not well. She has Alzheimer’s. This year, Satish had his kidney transplanted. He wanted to prolong his life so that he could take care of Madhu. He was on dialysis. Earlier, he underwent a bypass surgery, which was successful.”
The actor also revealed that his wife Supriya visited the late actor three days before his death. Satish Shah had played music and Supriya was dancing with his wife, Madhu, who remembered how he danced cha-cha-cha. Sachin also revealed that he received a text message from Satish Shah at 12:56 pm, just a few hours before his sudden death.
For the unversed, Satish Shah and his wife, Madhu, decided not to have children and focus on their relationship and companionship. Their relationship was based on mutual respect and silent understanding. Without Satish Shah, his ailing wife, Madhu, is left alone.
