As part of the unveiling of its Galaxy XR headphones, Samsung also briefly teased another wearable product. It is working in collaboration with two eyewear companies, Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, on AI-powered smart glasses to compete with Meta’s Ray-Ban models, Jay Kim, Samsung’s head of customer experience announced at the end of the live broadcast.

“We are also very excited about the AI glasses we are currently building together with Google,” Kim said. “We’re working with two of the most innovative eyewear brands, Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, to introduce new devices that fit your lifestyle.”

Samsung will focus on two different markets with those brands, although both will include “cutting-edge” artificial intelligence features developed jointly with Google. With Gentle Monster, it is developing “fashionable” glasses that will likely target the upper end of the market. Meanwhile, the collaboration with Warby Parker will produce glasses designed for general consumers, likely at a lower price.

Samsung simply said that AI glasses will bring “style, comfort and practicality” to everyday life through Android’s XR ecosystem. As we saw in May with Google’s XR smart glasses prototype, it will likely employ a Gemini display that will display notifications and small snippets of information from your apps, such as the music you’re listening to or turn-by-turn GPS directions. Of course, it should also have a built-in camera, as well as speakers and a microphone.

Design and appearance will also be key, but Samsung has yet to show images of the upcoming smart glasses and has not revealed a release date. However, he will have a difficult climb to the finish line given the Ray-Ban brand and that company’s advantage in technology. Last week, Meta introduced its Ray-Ban Display model that includes a screen for a true extended reality experience.
