EYE IN THE SKY: CHRISTMAS AND THE CALL TO REBIRTH
With last week’s New Moon close to the Winter Solstice which will occur in Mula Nakshatra (0°–13°20′ Sagittarius): We are reminded that rebirth often comes through darkness. Mula, aligned with the Galactic Center, represents a deep dissolution that clears the way for awakening. Goddess Nirriti does not destroy to punish, but to uproot illusions and restore truth.
In this moment, we are asked to choose gratitude and awareness over fear. Global narratives continue to push for war with Europe, pretending to support peace but secretly wanting war with Russia, and simply failing to seize Russia’s assets. Gaza seems quite fragile and Hamas is not giving up its weapons and Iran is stockpiling missiles as if they are not going to become a defeated alley cat. The abundance of the stock market has been great for those with the right stocks and accounts, but very few benefit. This year’s biggest Christmas gift was the creation of investment accounts so that 25 million children born between 2025 and 2028 would receive a $1,000 Treasury seed invested in an index fund.
True change starts locally: through compassion, generosity and service. Supporting food banks, helping the homeless and simply being kind is more important than ever. These acts should not be limited to the Christmas season. There are many more people who choose good than darkness, even if they receive less attention. We are here to encourage each other, not to live in fear, waiting for the next crisis.
This latest New Moon also aligns beautifully with a deeper spiritual rebirth. As Jupiter is in its own star of Punvarvasu (Gemini 20-Cancer 3.20) and the energy shifts towards feeling the abundance and generosity of the Divine. It is a powerful reminder that the real work now is internal: awakening our inner light.
Paramahansa Yogananda captured this message perfectly in his reflection on the birth of Christ:
“Every day, every hour, every golden second, Christ has been calling… Now, in this sacred dawn, Christ comes especially in response to your inner calling, to awaken His Christ Consciousness within you.”
“The Infinite Christ is everywhere. You will never be able to see Him unless He chooses to be born in the cradle of your ceaseless devotion.”
“Make the cradle of your heart enormous, so that social, national, international and cosmic Christic love can be born there and become One Love.”

This season invites us to expand our hearts beyond fear, beyond division, and beyond concern for ourselves. Rebirth is not something that happens to us, it is something we consciously choose.
May this winter solstice and Christmas season awaken that choice within all of us.
