Opening of the Tess Hotel in Buckhead, Atlanta

Atlanta’s newest hotel, The Tess, opened its doors in the Buckhead neighborhood with 201 rooms, a rooftop pool and restaurant, and a podcast studio.
The hotel, located near the Buckhead Village district, joins Marriott’s Autograph Collection hotels.
Accommodations range from 312-square-foot standard rooms with desks and floor-to-ceiling windows to the spacious 1,048-square-foot presidential suite with separate living room and eat-in kitchen.

The Tess, a new hotel, opened this month in Atlanta’s exclusive Buckhead neighborhood as part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection hotels.

Peregrine Hospitality, the group behind Deer Valley Resort and Under Canvas, has transformed the 201-room resort, formerly Thompson Atlanta-Buckhead, into a modern destination with a rooftop pool and restaurant, skyline views and a podcast studio.

“With The Tess, we sought to create a new vision of a home away from home: we imagined the living room of Atlanta, creating a space that is effortlessly sophisticated yet deeply personal,” says Greg Kennealey, CEO of Peregrine Hospitality. “Tess is more than a name; she is our muse and the common thread behind every element, from elevated design and programming to nuanced touches.”

Tess, the hotel’s fictional namesake, is imagined as an elegant, approachable, and well-traveled hostess who has collected stories from around the world before returning home to Atlanta.

Rooms include a presidential suite with an eat-in kitchen, deep soaking tub, and floor-to-ceiling windows framing panoramic views of the city. Downstairs, The Tess Collection, a hybrid library and creative studio, is packed with books and vinyl, and doubles as a podcast recording space. The hotel plans to hold regular events there, such as author talks and tastings.

On the culinary front, rooftop restaurant Tesserae serves modern American fare such as cabernet-braised short ribs and pumpkin-sage risotto. An elegant marble and leather Lobby Bar on the ground floor mixes signature cocktails like the Cosmic Crush, made with strawberry-basil infused vodka.

Beyond the upscale restaurant and bar, the hotel is home to one of the city’s most picturesque new rooftop pools, as well as a fitness center and 17,000 square feet of event space, including a ballroom and expansive outdoor terrace.

Experience curators, The Tess’ take on traditional concierge services, are available to help with restaurant reservations and cultural experiences. Guests will also find in-room guides with recommendations for podcasts, music, and neighborhood favorites.
