At a recent family wedding, Nita Ambani wore an off-white georgette saree from Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla’s Burano collection, worn by Anbarasu Mahadevan. The saree is crafted with an all-over sequin shimmer while the resham borders are detailed with French knots, crystals and fine embroidery making the border the densest part of the drape. The pallu continues with the same sequin and embroidery details, and the sari remains within a pale silver-white color palette, with details coming from texture and shine.
The blouse, made of tulle with a honeycomb crystal mesh, breaks up the all-over shine of the saree and adds variation to the monochrome palette.
Jewelry from her personal collection included a matching diamond necklace, earrings, bracelets and rings, along with a crystal-encrusted silver clutch that stayed within the same silver-white spectrum. Her hair, styled by Hiral Bhatia, was worn in loose waves, while Mickey Contractor kept the makeup understated, with the red bindi adding the boldest note of color.
With a saree this detailed, the color works better as a small interruption than a second story. A bindi, a gemstone detail or a deep-hued clutch will do more than a totally contrasting jewelry set.
