The great cosmic editor
One of my potential favorite characters of the Virgo archetype is their keen eye for detail. This is a sign often linked to the processes of distillation and discernment: the art of separating the essential from the merely extra.
If we follow the wheel of the zodiac, Virgo arrives right after Leo. Leo season can carry a “say yes to everything” energy, much like a freewriting session, where you put every thought on the page without censoring or editing. You can be wide-ranging, creative, and generous.
Then Virgo enters the scene, red pencil in hand, ready to perfect. Virgo is like the editor of the zodiac: the one who can select the raw material, clarify the vision and polish the details so that the true message shines through.
New moons are often symbolic beginnings, a time to plant seeds. With this New Moon in Virgo, the emphasis is on planting with intention. Instead of scattering seeds all over the place, you could ask: Which seed really matters to me right now? Which one deserves my care, my time and my attention over the next few weeks?
Ideas for the New Moon in Virgo
Here are three ways to connect with the energy of today’s New Moon in Virgo. You can choose the one that resonates most with you or adopt all three for a deeper experience. Each exercise channels Virgo’s grounded, detail-oriented nature, offering practical actions that also carry symbolic meaning.
- Creative editing ritual
Choose a piece of writing, a half-finished piece of art, a business plan, or even a recipe you’ve been developing. Set a timer for 20 minutes and spend that time refining it: remove the excess, clarify your message, and refine the details. As you work, imagine that you are not only editing the project, but also the patterns, thoughts, or habits in your own life that no longer serve you. When the timer ends, pause and notice how the act of refinement changes your energy.
Seed Selection Meditation
Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Imagine yourself in a large and fertile garden. All around you are countless little seeds, each containing the potential for a project, intention, or change you have been considering. Walk slowly around this space and see which seeds catch your eye. When one feels good, pick it up. Imagine planting it in fertile soil, watering it, and vowing to come back to care for it every day. As you open your eyes, write down the seed you chose and one tangible step you will take this week to nourish it.

Organize a space
Choose a small, defined area: your desk, your nightstand, a single drawer, your phone’s photo gallery. Before you begin, take a moment to set an intention: By clearing this space, I create more space for clarity and focus in my life. Then start removing anything that is unnecessary, obsolete, or no longer aligned with who you are now. Once you’re done, place a meaningful object in that space, something that reminds you of your chosen intention for the New Moon.
Other graphics dynamics
Today’s New Moon falls between the recent Mercury retrograde and the upcoming eclipse season, making it a potentially powerful window for setting intentions. In the coming weeks, we will move toward a Full Moon and New Moon eclipse, times that often bring about unexpected changes and unpredictable currents. As I will explore more in the next blog post, eclipses can seem like cosmic wild cards. By connecting now with clear intentions and focused vision, you can give your future self a compass to navigate whatever eclipse season may bring your way.
