Moon in Virgo, October 16-18

At noon on Thursday, the tone changes as the Moon enters modest Virgo, which is more interested in taking care of the small but important matters of our daily lives. About an hour and a half after the Moon enters Virgo, it will form a square to a disruptive Uranus in Gemini. Increased nervous tension can be problematic for sensitive souls. It’s okay to take some time to breathe and re-center if necessary. After that, the Moon in Virgo will remain unaspected for more than twenty-four hours. Thursday afternoon and evening seem conducive to staying focused and following our normal routines.

It will be Friday night before the Virgo Moon sextiles Mercury in Scorpio, a great aspect to ensure we communicate effectively. Before that we will have an unaspected Virgo Moon to help us finish the work week in an orderly manner. It’s a good time to review the projects we’ve been working on this past week to make sure we’ve dotted all the i’s and crossed all the t’s. Plus, it usually feels good to know that we’ve tidied up our desks before we leave for the weekend. A night sextile from the Virgo Moon to Mars in Scorpio, while not exactly great for socializing, is pretty good for those who work the night shift in hospitals and emergency rooms.

On Saturday morning, the Virgo Moon sextiles Jupiter in Cancer, and during the afternoon, the Virgo Moon opposes Saturn retrograde in Pisces before drifting off course until Saturday night. The Virgo Moon-Jupiter sextile in Cancer is wonderful for seeing new and better ways to improve our homes. Yes, the opposition between the Virgo Moon and Saturn in Pisces may bring the mood down for a while, but probably not as much as we might fear. In general, the Moon in Virgo will do everything it can to encourage us to mind our own business and take care of routine matters, including reviewing our health habits, sorting through paperwork that requires attention to detail, and dedicating time to fine-tune our daily routines at home and at work. We have a New Moon in Libra next week, so tidying up loose ends is definitely a good idea.

There is an astronomical event during the Moon’s stay in Virgo. On Thursday, the Libra Sun squares Jupiter in Cancer. Libra-Cancer squares often revolve around family arguments about what is fair. With Jupiter in Cancer present, those discussions could get very loud, in part because this is a cardinal square and people will feel the need to take some kind of action to do what they think will make things better. This may be a case of being careful what you wish for.
