Late on Saturday night, the Moon slides into airy, cardinal Libra, where it heads toward the New Moon in Libra on Tuesday. Having the Moon in Libra also gives us three planets in Libra: Sun, Moon and Venus. This places more emphasis than usual on choosing compromise, justice and mediation over more adversarial approaches. On Saturday night, the Libra Moon connects with the outer planets, opposing Neptune retrograde in Aries and creating a Grand Trine with Uranus in Gemini and Pluto in Aquarius. Lots of air and fire, shooting sparks of brilliance and endless dialogues. It will take close attention to extract the most benefits from this event because there is simply too much noise obscuring the gems of information.
The energy on Sunday is much more relaxed. The Libra Moon happily conjoins Libra’s ruling planet, Venus, at noon. Perfect for spending quality time with our nearest and dearest and enjoying quiet conversation in beautiful surroundings if possible. After that, the Moon in Libra will remain unaspected for more than twenty-four hours. Since we are in the dark of the moon, this low-key environment should be quite comfortable.
All Monday we have an unaspected Moon in Libra to help keep us balanced. Talking about our differences of opinion is encouraged, as is seeking equitable solutions. It’s always good to have a Cardinal Moon on Monday to encourage us to get going during the week. Around midnight on Monday night, the Libra Moon squares Jupiter in Cancer, and that can cause family upheaval and major mood swings. Stay calm and practice patience.
The last aspect the Moon makes in Libra before losing its way for a couple of hours early Tuesday morning is the New Moon at 28° Libra. One of the most interesting things about this New Moon is a Grand Trine in the water! This Moon in Libra will be the last time we will have so many planets in fire and air for a while. Both the Sun and Moon will dip into the waters of Scorpio on Tuesday, and Neptune will return to Pisces on Wednesday. Yeah! Changes in the atmosphere are on the way!
There are two astronomical events during the Moon’s stay in Libra. On Sunday, Mercury joins Mars in Scorpio and the New Moon in Libra occurs on Tuesday.
That Mercury-Mars conjunction in Scorpio can have a big impact. Scorpio is more characterized by reticence and therefore this conjunction in Scorpio will most likely require time to seriously investigate before sharing information. Under this influence, when information is shared, it will probably be too precise. Scorpio also believes in lancing infections so they can heal cleanly, and this could be the purpose of any revelation. Hopefully, the high-pitched tone will be enough to cut through the dissonance and denial that prevails these days.
This New Moon in Libra is another New Moon where we find ourselves in a position where we need to let go of old issues before embarking on something new. Libra’s luminaries are broadly square Jupiter in Cancer, but are otherwise free of distractions. Jupiter in Cancer is also part of a Grand Trine in water with Mercury-Mars in Scorpio and Saturn retrograde in Pisces. Maybe it’s time we remember that emotional intelligence and intuition are just as important as logic and reason. We are about to enter a period where the outer planets return to Earth and water signs again from about the second week of November to early February, a bit of a refresher course, if you will. We can use this New Moon in Libra to begin to reevaluate our sources of information and how best to use what we learn to begin planning for the future.
