Did Meghan Markle and Prince Harry break a promise and put their children in danger?
That’s what the royalists who hate Meghan say.
Among other things, they accuse the Duchess of Sussex of total hypocrisy.
Surely he chose a moment to be among publicists, eh?

Did Meghan Markle break a family ‘promise’ regarding her children?
Believe it or not, Archie is 6 years old. Lilibet is 4 years old. (Do you feel old yet?)
From the beginning, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have decided to avoid showing their children’s faces.
This is both a privacy and security issue.
We live in a world where thousands of children have grown up with their authorized parents loudly posting their photos, videos, faces and private moments from their childhood on the Internet. Many parents of young children are determined to do better than that.
So why did the Duchess of Sussex include so many of her children in this fun and festive video?
It is the most wonderful time of the year, that is, the Halloween season.
On Sunday, October 26, the Duchess shared a instagram video, titled “Happy Sunday,” of Archie and Lilibet enjoying a pumpkin patch.
As usual, Meghan avoided direct images of her children’s faces in this adorable orange video.
However, we get to see more of Archie and Lilibet’s traits than usual.
As a bonus, we get to see Harry carving a pumpkin. However, that is not the focus of the “controversy.”

Glimpses of these royal babies are few and far between
See, what little viewers can make out of Lilibet’s face is the most anyone has seen since her official birthday portrait in 2022.
And Archie’s face was last seen in late 2021.
Still, most of what Meghan Markle shows here is the backs of her children’s heads.
Seeing the back of someone’s head, their ear, and their jaw may be enough to recognize a close friend or loved one.
However, most people who watched this video wouldn’t recognize Archie or Lilibet if they passed them on the street. Not if they didn’t expect to find them.

The absurd monarchists now claim that this video is some kind of betrayal of Meghan’s own expressed values.
Tom Sykes The realist substack calls the video an “extraordinary lapse.” And he’s not alone, with other Team William blokes criticizing the Sussexes.
It seems these people want to accomplish two things.
The first is to ridicule the intention to protect the privacy and dignity of children. Because Harry and Meghan do it, because William and Kate don’t, or perhaps because of a general disregard for children’s rights.
And the second goal seems to be to accuse Meghan and Harry of hypocrisy for breaking a promise they didn’t break, a promise those same critics don’t personally support.

So why is there this reaction?
Truth be told, we can’t say we fully understand people who seem eager or even desperate to see the faces of famous kids.
It is not an impulse that we have. At the same time, we do not understand the anger and fury that we so often see expressed in social media comments by people who tremble with rage to famous parents who hide their children’s faces.
But at the end of the day, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry (but mostly Meghan) don’t get angry for normal reasons.
If he didn’t show anything, he would receive hate for “hiding” his children. Showing your children’s faces would bring you joy, but also a similar “haha, you broke your own rule” reaction. This harmless half-measure is generating similar hatred.
It’s not because people like children’s faces or whatever. And it’s not about hypocrisy, real or imagined. A lot of people (mainly in the UK, let’s be real) are so used to hating Meghan that it’s a reflex. It lacks rhyme and reason.
