Liège Airport (LGG) and Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) have signed a sister airport agreement that marks a new phase in transatlantic air cargo collaboration.
The partnership establishes a cooperation framework aimed at increasing freight traffic between the two cargo-focused hubs, launching joint marketing and sales initiatives to attract new operators, and exploring digital and operational projects to streamline processes and improve service quality.
“This agreement is a testament to our shared vision for the future of air cargo,” said Torsten Wefers, vice president of sales and marketing at LGG “Together with Chicago Rockford International Airport, we are building a strong transatlantic corridor that will benefit shippers, shippers and the global supply chain.”
Zachary Oakley, CEO of RFD, added: “Liège and Rockford are cargo-focused airports with complementary strengths. This partnership formalizes our collaboration and sets the stage for exciting new opportunities.”
The signing ceremony, attended by senior executives and industry leaders, took place at the Air Cargo South East Asia event in Singapore. The agreement underlines both airports’ shared commitment to innovation, growth and operational excellence, while strengthening their positions as key logistics gateways on both sides of the Atlantic.
