Lawyer Spencer Kuvin, who represents Epstein’s survivors, told The Sun: “It is a step in the right direction that the crown has seen fit to strip Andrew of all titles.

“The next step is a full criminal investigation and possible prosecution for his actions.

“For too long, people in the United States and the United Kingdom have accepted child sexual abuse.

“People need to see that no matter how rich or powerful you are, if you commit abuse, you will be held accountable.”

Allegations about Andrew’s connections to financier Epstein, who died in prison in 2019, have dogged the former prince for years.

Ms Giuffre, who took her own life in April, sued Andrew in 2021, alleging she was forced to have sex with the Duke on three occasions when she was a teenager.

Andrew paid his accuser, whom he claimed he had never met, approximately £12 million in an out-of-court settlement.

He has always vehemently denied all accusations against him and any wrongdoing.

Last night Ms Giuffre’s brother insisted Andrew should be “behind bars” and praised his late sister’s “extraordinary courage”.

Sky Roberts echoed Kuvin’s calls for a criminal investigation.

Fighting back tears, she told BBC Newsnight: “It’s not enough, we have to carry out some kind of investigation that goes beyond this.

“I mean he (Andrew) still walks like a free man.

“I congratulate the King, I think he is doing an incredible job as a world leader, setting a precedent, but we have to go one step further: he (Andrew) needs to be behind bars, period.”

Sky’s call for action came after Buckingham Palace last night issued an explosive statement – dropping the ax on Andrew’s future as a royal.

The Palace said it was beginning the formal process to remove “Prince Andrew’s style, titles and honours” after a feverish few weeks.

The statement, which sent shockwaves around the world, read: “Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.

“His tenancy at Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in his residence.

“He has now been formally notified to give up the tenancy and will move to alternative private accommodation.

“These censures are considered necessary, even though he continues to deny the accusations against him.”

However, the move left his mother, Andrew’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, 66, in the cold. and make your own living arrangements.
