Korean Air named ‘Asian Airline of the Year’ by CAPA

Korean Air has been named Asia Airline of the Year by CAPA – Aviation Center, a leading provider of aviation market intelligence. The award was presented on October 30 at the CAPA Airline Leader Summit – Asia & Awards for Excellence, in Singapore.

CAPA noted that the merger is driving the airline’s comprehensive transformation, spanning the airline’s brand, aircraft designs, in-flight products, network planning and IT systems.

The panel also praised the airline’s clear and methodical approach to the complex integration, noting that the end result will be the formation of a global megacarrier that will change the competitive landscape of Asian aviation.

“Being awarded Asia Airline of the Year by CAPA is a significant validation of the dedication of our entire team during this historic period of transformation,” said Taejoon Kim, Senior Vice President and Head of International Affairs and Alliances at Korean Air. “We are fully committed to the successful integration of our airlines, with a clear focus on building a sustainable, world-class global airline that will set new standards for customer experience and enhance the regional aviation network.”

Other CAPA award winners include Cebu Pacific, which picked up the Asian LCC trophy. Hong Kong International took home the award for Large Asian Airport of the Year, while Singapore Airlines CEO Goh Choon Phong took home the CEO of the Year award.
