Kate Middleton made a stylish appearance in Brighton on Saturday. The Princess of Wales attended the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup group stage clash between England and Australia.

The Princess, who has been patron of the Rugby Football Union since 2022, looked stylish in a black jacket, wide-leg trousers and a ruffled top as she joined fans at the Amex Stadium to cheer on the Red Roses (⬇️ jump to clothing information?)
Here is the Princess participating in a ‘Mexican Wave’:

The England team triumphed, beating the Australians 47 – 7.

The team is now set for a quarter-final match against Scotland later this month.
This is the tenth Women’s Rugby World Cup tournament to date. The final will take place at Twickenham, London, on September 27. (Write it down as a possible date in your actual sighting logs, folks!)

The Amex Stadium, usually home to Brighton & Hove Albion FC, is one of several venues hosting matches across England during the tournament.
Kate met up with the Red Roses after the game.

As expected, the team’s spirits were high after the victory:

Kate congratulated the players.

The women posed smiling for a group photo.

Kate wasn’t the only royal watching rugby that afternoon – her husband attended the Wales vs Figi Women’s Rugby World Cup match at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.

The Prince attended in his capacity as patron of the Welsh Rugby Union.
Let’s see how our favorite princess dressed for the rugby match! I loved this look. Let’s analyze it.
Kate’s outfit:
The princess looked fantastic in a fitted jacket, a pair of wide-leg trousers and an elegant ruffled blouse.

The set gave a note of formality that worked on two levels. Firstly, it suited the sporting occasion and Kate’s role as royal patron. And secondly, it was in keeping with the Royal Family’s somber dress code for the official mourning period following the death of the Duchess of Kent earlier this week.
Let’s start by looking at the jacket. To no one’s surprise, it is because Alexander McQueen.

The jacket features sturdy padded shoulders, peak lapels, and a single-button closure that creates a cinched waist.

The Princess is clearly a fan of style. It has multiple variations of the same jacket.

In fact, he has an identical black jacket from the British brand, which features a silk lapel (see video image below):

This is the first time we see the Princess wear the black blazer (the version without the silk lapel).
It’s a distinctive McQueen silhouette. The company renews the design in different fabrics and colors each season.
MiddletonMaven I found the black crepe version available in Net-A-Porter for £1,690 GBP / $2,590 USD.
Of course, Kate’s style is synonymous with Alexander McQueen at this stage: the brand outfitted Kate in two dresses on her wedding day and has dressed her ever since.
Let’s now look at Kate’s blouse. is from knatchbull. is he Waterfall Blouse with ruffles in ivory color.

The blouse is made from 100% sand-washed silk satin, providing a wonderfully soft drape with a subtle sheen.

In addition to the striking ruffle, the blouse also features elongated ribbed cuffs and delicate Italian mother-of-pearl buttons.

We know that Kate chose the dark suit as a sign of respect for the official mourning period. I wonder if the ivory blouse is a nod to the England team, as it is one of the colors used by the Red Roses.
If the blouse looks familiar, that’s because Kate wore it earlier this year, under a green suit:

(May 2025, The Princess presented Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design at an event organized by the British Fashion Council).
If you are interested in the blouse, you will be happy to know that it is still part of Knatchbull’s offer.. Some sizes are available for immediate shipping, others will ship later in the month. The piece costs £565.00 GBP and is made in Portugal.
Knatchbull, formerly The Deck London, is Savile Row’s first and only women’s showcase. The spirit of the company is “Traditional tailoring for those with a sartorial mindset.”
The brand offers sustainable fashion through its made-to-measure business model. Founded by Daisy Knatchbull, the focus is on slow fashion, conscious consumption and natural fibres, fit excellence and female empowerment.
To my knowledge, Kate has not worn another Knatchbull piece in public to date. But I wouldn’t be surprised to see that change in the future…
Let’s now look at the princess’s pants. She paired the black jacket and ivory shirt with wide-leg Roland Mouret Axon pants, also in black.

The princess debuted the style in 2021. She has worn them several times since then.
The wide-leg pants are made from a stretch viscose fabric blend and feature stylish front and back pleats, mock front pockets, and a distinctive exposed gold side zipper (shown below on another occasion).

Unfortunately they are no longer available to purchase.
The princess owns some tailored clothing (jackets, pants) and dresses by Roland Mouret. It’s not one of his favorite brands, but it’s certainly one he turns to from time to time.
Roland Mouret is a French designer perhaps best known for his curve-enhancing techniques.‘galaxy dress’. Released in 2005, the dress catapulted Mouret to fame. Today, the designer is known for his expertly draped and figure-flattering designs.
Now let’s move on to her bag, a quilted design in black. I knew right away it was her Chanel Mini Flap bag.

Crafted from soft black quilted lambskin, this versatile piece features a gold chain/leather strap and the brand’s iconic CC logo on the front flap.

Kate debuted the bag at the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals in France in 2023. This is the fifth time we’ve seen her carry it to date.
Chanel’s website suggests an RRP of £4,080 in the UK.
The princess is no stranger to Chanel, having added several pieces to her wardrobe in recent years. In addition to the mini flap bag, she owns two other Chanel bags, a vintage jacket and an elegant coat dress.
Founded in 1910 by Coco Chanel, the French luxury fashion house has long been synonymous with elegance and sophistication. Today, it remains a global symbol of luxury and extends its influence to fashion, fragrances, bags and jewelry.
Now let’s move on to the jewelry. Kate completed the look with her Cartier Trinity earrings.

The design features three small interlocking hoops in yellow, rose and white gold.
Kate has worn the earrings frequently this year. I think this is the sixth time we’ve seen them since January. I wonder if they were a Christmas or birthday present, given the timing of their debut.

The earrings are still available here, at Selfridgesif you need a pair for your jewelery box (and have the budget – they cost £3,050 GBP).
Kate is a Cartier fan and owns five “Trinity” items from the French brand: three pairs of earrings and two necklaces in total. Also, two other items (a steel watch and a sapphire ring) from other collections. Oh, and let’s not forget her iconic wedding tiara! That was also a gem from Cartier.
